I have to write a 1500 word paper on Alice In Wonderland’s (the Novel by Lewis Carroll) by choosing a theme that was used in the book and analyzing it and building on it through an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion. The following instructions I’m going to include are made by my doctor.

5 paragraph essays
Intro/ B1 / B2 / B3 / Conclusion
Thesis statement
Point / Evidence / Explanation

1)
Every Paragraph follow this structure : Point , Evidence and Explanation.
Always have a topic sentence in the beginning of a paragraph.
Paragraphs should not be two pages long. Or two sentences short.
Please read them thoroughly

2)
The last sentence of your introduction should have a thesis statement.
This is an argument that you will be making…
What are you claiming the text does and using what literary themes/ideas?

3)
using online databases (JSTOR..SPRINGER)
Type the full title of the novel and see what you find, if that does not work
author’s name
Look for the concept or idea or theme without novel, see what you find
You could find great information that you can include in your essay to explain the topic or theme
Your analysis could build on them
Type both the topic/theme/literary device + novel/author

If you do not find anything after doing all this, go to another database and start again.

When you find something:
Read the abstract or introduction and conclusion
If what the writer says interests you and the writing is clear, read the whole thing.
Reading the conclusion helps you to understand what the writer wants to say quickly.

While reading (you do not have to do this. This is just what I like to do)
Highlight the parts that are interesting or useful, so you can find them easily later.
Writing notes on the side either on paper or on the file in your computer is helpful.
Later when you read the file again, it will be easy for you to find the parts you want.
Categorize your notes: dedicate a word or number to each idea in the article. Again, this makes finding them in the file easier later.
